How to train your FrenchBo puppy

Tips on training your FrenchBo bulldog.

I got Google when he was 8 weeks old so I had to do all of the training right from the beginning.  Frenchbo's in my opinion can be very easy to train BUT they can also be very stubborn (typical for bully breeds).  But I lucked out and got a very food oriented puppy who would do anything for a treat!! Within 2 weeks of having him he was sitting, shaking a paw, rolling over, bowing, and more.

But tricks is not the hard part of training.  One of the most difficult and daunting tasks is teaching your puppy to use the bathroom outside.  This take a lot of patience and time, but it is worth it when they learn to sit by the door when they have to go.  I am have the luck of working from home so taking my puppy out every hour so that he didn't do his business on the floor was pretty easy for me.  But I still bought the books and took advice from professionals on what to do.  Particularly when it came to scolding Google when he did have an accident on the floor.  Because I am not a professional trainer I can not sit here and write a book about what exactly I did for training but the books I did buy and recommend is of course all Ceasar Milan books/advice and Dove Cresswell training.  Because I work on the computer all day I really liked how Dove Cresswell created an online puppy and dog training series.  It was filled with excellent tips and advice and it was cheap!

If there is one other piece of advice that I can give everyone it would be kennel train.  This is a great way to potty train your dog and get him used to having his own space and being alone.  A lot of dogs feel separation anxiety when their owners leave so I trained Google the Frenchbo to sleep and stay in his kennel by himself.  Now I can go out, put him in his kennel, and know that he isn't going to be barking or crying at the door until I get home.  If you do work an 8 hour day then put the kennel into a room where your dog or puppy can stay safely.  Put up a child proof gate in the doorway so that you don't have to close the door and make the dog feel trapped.  Then leave the kennel door open so that he can freely go in and out of the kennel as he chooses.  An 8 hour day is a long time so make sure your dog has fresh water, food (if you feed him during the day), and a way for him to stretch his legs and toys to play with.

Again patience is the true training tool that you need with your puppy.  If you raise him with patience and love you will have the most loyal dog in the world.  Good luck and I hope that some of my tips help you train your frenchbo, french bulldog, or any other breed.

Also there is puppy training classes which I did with Google when he was younger.  They are always fun for your puppy and you.  Here is Google the Frenchbo on his graduating day... smart little guy.
